Welcome

Music is a universal language.  Sometimes when we speak we are misunderstood. Our meaning may be lost in body language, or confused because of our varied experiences.  Sometimes our words are simply ignored.  But music, music begs to be heard-- and understood.  It is a language without words that speaks to the soul.  Music can convey meaning, feelings, and experiences that words cannot capture.  Music has great capacity for good... or for evil. I believe in the power of music to touch lives, heal hearts, and testify of truth.  This is the beauty of music.

"I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving."

Psalm 69:30

What makes Christmas Merrier than new music?

Hello Friends, Merry Christmas!  Christmas time is a wonderful time of year.  I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ all year long, but I love that during the Christmas Season, the rest of the world joins in!  What better time to share new music about our Savior, than at Christmas time.  I am especially excited because this Christmas release is my first honest to goodness CD release EP!  This EP includes three Christmas duets, performed by Jenny Froggley and Dan Beck, Nathan Osmond and Jarna Knickerbocker, and Nathan Osmond with Dani Kaye.  Three bonus tracks round out the EP, with performances by Lisa Frost and Jarna Knickerbocker.  I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with these amazing vocalists, as well as the musicians, Greg Hansen who did much of the arranging, and Steve Lerud who works his magic in the studio recording, mixing, and mastering.  What a blessing to be able to share my music with so many talented people and so blessed that they have made it possible for me to share my music with YOU!  I hope you enjoy it and that it adds just a little bit extra to your Christmas Season.  Merry Christmas!  Much love, Charlotte

Let's try something a little different....

If you know me, you know how much I  love music, and the power it has to touch lives and hearts. It truly is one of my greatest blessings to create and share music that might lift and inspire others.   That is my goal.  That is what I am trying to accomplish.

To this end, I am going to try something a little different.  I have made some changes to my Music page on my website.  You may have heard of restaurants that allow patrons to choose their own price as they pay for their meal?  I have wondered for some time how that might work with my music.  Let's face it, I am not going to get rich producing music.  That's just not the market that I am in.  I hope one day, to bring in enough money to pay for what I produce, but at this point, I am  not even close.  This reality keeps me from creating as much music as I would like to and the list of songs I have written but not recorded grows longer and longer, but I keep writing with the hope that one day, the music will touch lives.  SO, log on, take a spin around my website, listen through the tracks on my Music page.  All songs can now be previewed in their entirety from the site.  Then, if you like what you hear, download it.  Share it, and if you want me to produce more, name your price as you download and help me as I try to move forward creating and sharing my music. There is also a donation button where you can donate without downloading if you wish. While you are at it, join my email list (don't worry, I only send emails when I post a new song or create a new blog entry every few months),  or you can leave me a message on my message board.  I love to hear from you!  Here's to a beautiful day filled with beautiful music.

Merry Christmas Everyone! New Music- Free Download Available

I love Christmas.  I always have.  There is just something blessed about a time of year when the whole world is focused on what is truly important in life.  As I contemplated the musical offering I could give this year, my thoughts were drawn to a part of the Christmas story that is probably one of my favorites.  I have always loved the account of Mary's visit from the angel Gabriel, announcing that she would be the mother of the Savior.  I am amazed at her humble resolve to do all that was asked of her, without question, and without reservation.  No less inspiring, is Joseph's humble acceptance of this same Heavenly messenger, sent to assure him of his part in this great blessing. How terrifyingly humbling this calling must have been for both of them, and yet, the reply "be it unto me..."  Amazing. Beautiful. Inspiring.  May we all have the faith to receive Him as they did.  I am so grateful for their example and for the life and mission of my Savior and yours, Jesus Christ.  I testify that He did live, born of Mary, Son of God, and that He lives today, and that He loves and cares for every one of us, and that He stands ready to receive all who will come unto Him.   Please enjoy a free download of "Stay" as my gift to you. Merry Christmas everyone.

New Music Available!

Hello Friends!  It took me long enough, but I finally did it!  I got my website updated and I have a lot of exciting things to share with you.  First and foremost:

NEW MUSIC!!!

Go to my Music tab and check out my New Music selection.
"He Will Bring Me Up" is one of my very favorites and very timely for so many who rely on the Lord daily for hope that regardless of the trials and tests life brings, He will bring them up again.  I testify that He will.
"Who I Am" is a Young Women's piece, written for our Stake Girl's Camp theme this summer.  It was a favorite of the girls, so I am excited to share it with you.  Two versions are posted.  A basic choral version, and a version with a little bit of a kick, from some added percussion.

While you are there, click on the link for the latest project my music is featured on-- "Unexpected", a newly released complilation album featuring a, well, unexpected, mix of music from LDS artists from many different genres.  Two of my songs are featured, "Temple Lights", which has already been featured on my website, and "Be Not Moved" which is brand new for the album. (an unmastered version of Be Not Moved is posted in my New Music section so you can get a sneak peak)  CDs and downloads are available on CDBaby as well in my own online Store.

I have also added a link to the album "Faith, Hope, and Love", a compilation album by Nancy DeMello, which features "A Light Set On A Hill".  Please click this link as well and check out the beautiful music on this project as well.

I am excited to get even more new music in your hands and hope to be back at it very soon.  Until then, I wish for you a Merry Christmas and an amazing year to come.

Strong Against The Wind

Well, it is safe to say that it has been long enough between postings....I am guessing six months between posts is not over-blogging.  I had to blog today because I have new music to share!  I just added Strong Against The Wind to my Music page.  If you haven't already checked it out, I hope you will.  Strong Against the Wind is a song that is near and dear to me because it is a song written to honor my Pioneer heritage.  Growing up in a small farming community with deep pioneer roots, I have always had a strong sense of who I am and where I came from.  I have always loved that my ancestors on both sides of my family came from Pioneer stock and the hallmarks of hard work, courage, persistence, and true grit are still alive and well in my family.  The song is based on the history of Jonathan and Olive Hale and their children, whose descendants were some of the first settlers in my home town of Oakley, Idaho.  Their history is incredible and I count it a blessing that I had the opportunity to study it as I prepared to write this song.  It is their story, but it is also every Pioneer's story. Jonathan and Olive are ancestors on my maternal side of the family, but the story of the ancestors on my Father's side are no less inspiring.  My husband is also an immigrant and there are elements that also apply to his own  "Pioneer" story.  My life has indeed been blessed as I have explored my heritage in the creation of this song. I hope you enjoy it half as much as I have enjoyed creating it.  A big thanks to my friend Nancy DeMello who did such a beautiful job on the vocals, to Mike Dowdle for his amazing (as always) arrangement, and to Steve Lerud for his studio magic.  Enjoy!

I did it!

Well, I wasn't sure if it was going to happen, and I wish it had happened sooner, but I made it to blog post #2!  First of all, thank you to all who have visited my website and expressed support of my music.  It means a lot to me, really.  Tonight it will have been been a week since I launched my website. That's exciting to me, and a little surreal as well.  What would be even more exciting is if I had new music to post on the site.  I do have new music I am working on. I actually have 4 songs that I have written but not recorded. I am hoping to put together enough money to record at least two of them in the near future, so wish me luck on that!  I wish money wasn't an issue, but so does most of the planet, so I guess I am not alone in that.  The two songs I would like to get recorded are songs that fit the YM/YW theme for this year-"Stand In Holy Places".  The first song is titled "Be Not Moved" and the second "At His Feet".  I hope you get a chance to hear them very soon.  Maybe saying it "out loud" on here will somehow allow me the means to make them a reality.  I love music, and I love sharing the gospel and HOPE through music.  I saw a FaceBook post yesterday that pretty well sums it up for me.  It said "Music is what feelings sound like."  I couldn't have said it better myself.

Never know till you try...

So, I have never been much of a blogger.  Ok, lets be honest.  I have never written a blog post in my life.  I do have one blog I follow--my sister's family blog.  That counts, right?  So here is my attempt at keeping up with a blog.  We'll see how it goes.  You never know till you try.  Right?
